Bureau for Visual Affairs is a digital design studio focussed on content driven user-experiences for the cultural and commercial sector.
Simon Piehl is one of the original founding partners, and heads up the company as Creative and Strategic Lead.
Simon studied typography and Visual Communication at the LCC when it was still known as the LCP. During and after his studies, he worked with Angus Hyland, whom he followed to Pentagram in the late nineties. Following his time there, he focussed on interactive media, working for Imagination ltd before heading Spin's digital department up to 2002.
Bureau for Visual Affairs unites key capabilities in a highly experienced and motivated team, starting from distilling a client's strategic requirements to building specification documentation through to developing the finished article.
The company had developed an articulated and iterative methodology that offers a high degree of collaboration with the client through a systematic and transparent process. By basing each project on agreed goals and rationale, the company is able to deliver complex projects in situations with fragmented stakeholder opinion.
